imho even better than vlc:

if you want to be able to play the movies in qt there are several possible codecs. divx5 mentioned above is one option. sometimes 3ivx works better: http://www.3ivx.com/ . the one that uses the least cpu is ffusion, but audio playback might not work: http://aldorandenet.free.fr/codecs/
