Twitches? I've never seen anything like that. If you send me the map, I can pave it and take a look.
I believe it's a bug, see if it behaves this way in another level. It's not impossible it might have to do with the distance the liquid has been raised. Sometimes forge does the most nasty things, have you tried the level in inf/alephone?
