M1 supports as many animations as you like (up to some limit I'm sure), but they still only had 5 views per monster (plus mirroring gives 8 views). Most of the ones in M2 also have only 5 views. The S'pht'Kr I know are an exception because of their highly asymmetrical shape, but the Hunters and Compilers match almost exactly sprite-for-sprite (the M2 compilers have one more frame of animation per view for their attacks, though), so I imagine most of the rest do too.
