: For my money the hunters are the only monsters whose M1 incarnations I
: clearly prefer. The M2 Compiler is more interesting to me (if less
: iconic).

I liked the visible brains in the concept sketches, but somehow the M2 compilers seem too fat and heavy to me. The M1 Compilers feel very ghostlike... tall, thin, mechanical things firing bolts of energy and hovering about in a think cloak... I imagine in a modernized (technologically) version of Marathon, the cloaks would flow and ripple as they moved, perhaps being tattered and torn from combat...

: The M1 Trooper looks pretty asstacular

I dunno I kind of like them.

: and the Pfhor fighters
: have that whole eyeball location problem.

That's actually the big reason why I asked this. I kinda like them, but the third eye is all wrong. The Fighters are OK in both though, I think, so I'll probably just stick with the M2 ones.

: The Enforcer is a toughy. The M2
: version looks like a Star Trek alien: just a guy in a dress with a funny
: forehead. The M1 Enforcers look pretty damned alien, but their heads look
: like marital aids designed by HR Giger. But they have the cool gun. Call
: that a draw I guess.

I love the M2 Enforcers - they actually look like badass mofos who'll torch you where you stand. But their gun is cool, which is why I'm keeping the M2 ones AND using Ernie's mods with the M1 weapon (monster stacking again)...

Yes, Eternal will have high RAM requirements. Lots of monster stacking, 2x landscapes, maxed out textures, all of the new stuff with hires versions available... and that's just what we've got done so far. May have hires weapons too :-)
