People commented on the subways and black-suited men back in the days of The Matrix. Or maybe it was a while ago on this forum; I d'know. The "clones" reference is new, though.

"Both ends of the street" and "impassive and immobile" sound more like the showdown seen in the trailer for Revolutions.

I'm pretty sure one of the creative leaders of The Matrix played Marathon at some point and paid attention to the story, but I still want to see a quote confirming that. With Half-Life, though, it's more obvious.

Also, the general "men in black" mythos has been around since way before 1997.
