The problem with these guys is, well one of the problems, is that they post with no expectation to ever come back and reply to repsonses. They just dump their two cents and leave; it's like talking to an empty chair, and that's why flaming them is harmless and meant more to vent than to insult.
It's the same thing, they just stop by, make some horribly-written asinine/pointess phrases, and jump ship without asking questions or facilitating any kind of feedback, and this is why I personally have no interest in introducing them to Marathon, and if I did, the forum wouldn't be the place to do it because they don't return...
I think what you have here certainly is a good synopsis for starters. Thinking about it, the Mara.org general forum is where people with a newfound interest in Marathon typically go for initiation. They stop by, usually asking how they can play on Windows or where they can get to original games; and some of them are keen enough to have dug deep enough into Halo's origins to find Marathon, and I think these are the kind of people we'd rather see coming around than what we're seeing here now posting about the books. So yeah, if I come across any more over of these types over there I may borrow some of your paragraphs to save some typin'.
