I made a lot of sketches for the battlesuit to try to find the right balance of armor elements. Since I am also deeply interested in ancient technology, I was naturally drawn to the old European plate armors contructed in and around the Medieval years. I was heavily contemplating a more marathonish helmet with a visor and the mouth showing, but I have made an effort throughout the scenario to leave the gender of the player open, so I used a full-face mask.
This isn't going to technically be a "chapter" screen as the scenario is made to be like a novel divided into 5 chapters, each with a screen; however they will be used inbetween certain levels and will be more like the player's reflections/soliloquy, so in the actual game there will be text. That is one of the reasons I composed the piece as it is with the emphasis on the person and his/her action while leaving the background vague and relatively simple.
On a side note, this is the first digital painting I've done in about 6 or 7 years! I only wish I had more time to work with this material and wasn't so rushed.
