: Biggest thing that surprised me was when i updated my bondi imac to panther.
: Panther runs beautifully and super fast, but when i tried to play aleph
: one on it it almost died!
I wonder if Panther supports the graphics card in your Bondi iMac. As I recall, the first iMac came out around the same time as my old Beige G3, whose graphic card is definitely not supported at all by any version of OS X (there is a class action settlement on this and I'll be getting a coupon or something). If Panther doesn't support your graphics card, you won't be able to do anything with OpenGL. In other words, you're screwed.
Before we jump to conclusions, however, be sure that you've minimized the computational load - switch to 16 bit color and switch all of the OpenGL textures (Walls, Landscapes, Monsters and Weapons) to 16-bit color. This makes a big difference. Good luck!
