: Quake 1 was great single player game, Quake 3 is really tense and well yeah,
: enjoyable for few days. But my opinion is that Quake 2 is the best one,
: The single player actually sucks but i love the weapons. And multiplayer
: is so damn great. I remember when i installed quake secretly into the
: comptuter lab in school. After one month, in every free time we had, every
: friggin' student went to the computer lab to play Quake 2. And guess what,
: the teachers even played. :-P

I didn't really like the Quake 2 arsenal. It didn't seem very balanced. It looked like they focused too much on stopping power, it made it seem like as your arsenal gets bigger and bigger, your earlier weapons get more and more useless. The ability to travel between levels was pretty cool, but other than that in my opinion it sucked.

I suppose that Quake 2 rocked on multiplayer, but now with these new games everyone wants to join this dingy UT online.

I agree that Quake 3 was only enjoyable for a couple of days. I don't really think that UT, UT 2003, and I even doubt that UT 2004 will be any better. I don't really understand what's this big, fat obsession with Unreal Tournament all the time? It has no interesting replay value and it is only enjoyable for a couple days like Quake 3.

I've played Unreal Tournament and it is easily one of the worst games I have ever played. The objectives are too easy, so basically it's a too-easy simple shooter game. I love simple shooter games, but the problem with UT is (besides the fact that its too damn easy), because of its arena-type configuration, once you get the flak cannon, its all a walk in the park, except for the very few times in which your opponents are at a distance, where you pretty much just take out the rocket launcher or redeemer, or on rare ocassions, the sniper rifle. There's practically no challenge or fun in it. There's no emotion.

I don't understand why people say that UT offers so much adrenaline. Give me a break. Doom or Quake or something offers more adrenaline anyday.

I suppose I may be getting to sound annoying, but all that so many people care about nowadays is graphics. Once I was told by a friend whom I had let play Marathon, "this game sucks!" I asked him why, he simply says, "What do you mean, why?! Those are the most pathetic graphics!" I told him that gameplay is what really matters, and he just stares at me as if I am an idiot.

What is this world coming to?! Now I know how my dad must have felt! Ah, well.

Anyway, I think that Quake rocks. I also have Doom and Wolfenstein 3D, both of which I enjoy very much. I played Duke Nukem before discovering of its 'pleasant' pornographical material. I was going to get Dark Forces, but I remembered it had missions. I basically just want a simple shoot-em-up-and-find-your-way-out game that is fun and challenging and offers good adrenaline and has a balanced arsenal. Well, Wolfenstein 3d doesn't have a balanced arsenal, but oh well, that's one that i'll accept, it was made in 1992 after all.
