I don't really have a problem with it, though I can see how someone may be annoyed if they see a response to a thread that's two years old and they think that it's new -- and then go frantically googling or checking channels to see that Marathon clip on Swedish TV. But then they find that it's old. And they swear vengeance on the excavator of the old topic and his or her family, starting a blood feud that lasts hundreds of generations and consumes the galaxy in interspecies warfare!
So yeah, that's why responding to old threads is bad.
