I, too, was at first disappointed when M1A1 eliminated the platform puzzle. How dare they take it upon themselves to alter Bungie's original design! But then I don't think that there is anyone who was at Bungie then who doesn't regret the design of Colony Ship. The reality is that Colony Ship was Bungie's one major mistake in the entire Marathon trilogy. It is thanks to Colony Ship that Mark and I can hold volunteers discussions in this forum about flaws with 3rd party scenarios that involve a lot of backtracking. Colony Ship is the standard against which other bad levels are judged. Since this level was a mistake, I now see the wisdom in the M1A1 project team's decision to fix the problem so that the level can be played for its enjoyment rather than because we have to.
