I suppose everyone has their own horror story as to which level they consider to be the worst. Here is my own candidate:
Several years ago I was playing the 25 level scenario Courier 11. I was having a blast until I got to level 23: "Lookin for bombs in all the wrong places". I have never been so mad, so angry, so absolutely pissed about a level as I was about this one. The creator of the scenario included only one recharger on the level. It's right at the beginning and is a 3x recharger. Sounds good so far right? There is even a Pattern Buffer nearby. Unfortunately, he also positioned a Trooper right smack-dab in front of that recharger. Ok, no problem you think right? Kill the Trooper and don't worry about it right? Ha! Think again. On this level the Troopers are set to have a minimum of 4 throughout the level, with a total number available of infinity, and an appearance rate of 80%. Thus very quickly into the level you have a fairly constant 4 Troopers guarding the one and only recharger. Since the level is fairly large, this makes completing it on TC virtually impossible cause you can never get close to the frigging recharger. To make matters worse, the creator also has a Cyborg that teleports into the same area infinitely often with an equally high probability. For the longest time, I refused to try and finish that scenario because of this level. Even though I recently did manage to finally get through it (how is another story), that level still rates as the worst in my book.
