: One of the best uses of vacuum IMO is in Ben Potter's Fell, in the level The
: Felt Need. One interesting thing about this level is that Ben gets around
: the issue of enforcers in a vacuum by claiming that the ship is filled
: with a gas that the Pfhor can breathe, but we can't. Although it's
: possible to get trapped at a pattern buffer without oxygen, it's much less
: likely than in other scenarios as there is an O2 recharger right next to
: one of the pattern buffers and it's not far from the others to an oxygen
: supply. Unfortunately, it is a huge level, so the O2 factor does become
: significant in places. Still, this is one of the best levels in terms of
: forcing the player to strategize that can still be played at one's leasure
: and that is beatable.
Thanks Steve.
I consciously tried to make the vacuum levels a meaningful part of the story (and the gameplay). I set out the station plan so that the rechargers would be balanced against all the places you have to go.
On Rubicon, I thought the vacuum levels were fine. The one with all the terminals (iwannavacuum?) was okay once you found the O2 recharger, but I think the terminals were out of sequence (2, then 5, then 3, etc.). I don't know if it was planned or what.
