I'm reasonably sure they're Pfhor in powered battle armor. The fluid that comes out when they die is (I think it's been concluded) machine oil combined with Pfhor blood. However, I'm talking more about M1 than M2 and Moo -- I'm not sure how the fighter stacks up against the hunter in the second and third Marathons in terms of looks, but I know that in the first, Hunters have big ol' spines sticking out of the backs of their legs protruding from their carapace/armor surface, and the spines are exactly the same on the Fighters. Not to mention that room in one of the Pfhor ship levels that has a group of motionless and indestructible Hunters...
Powered-down Hunter armor, used for transport? Methinking yes.
