A S'pht Milestone (C'rkth'spht... heh) - LONG
Posted By: thermoplyaeDate: 6/1/03 2:50 p.m.

Okay. We finally have an entire passage translated. A note to VidBoi: you might want to put all of this into the documentation so that there's a working example for people trying to learn.

Here goes.

For a thousand and one orbits, -- T'lar s'rknth'bhulhah'rk,
The clan was forgotten, -- k'ter s'erkeh'tract,
lost upon the battlefield smoke, -- tract p'thr l'arhln'ktrar,
until the all-powerful Y'rr sent K'lia -- k'lr Y'rr'ktr'nr l'oracni K'lia
out to the stars. -- rac k'rl r'ktra.

The clan went forth and up, -- K'ter r'arhli rac,
stopping on K'lia, -- k'tacnicthr p'thr K'lia,
the third sister of Lh'owon, -- s'rhl'phlhah'lh'owon,
to build a new home, -- scal'mncal o'won'thal,
(that was) free from their warring brothers. -- t'rorl s'erkeh'rkna v'ral r'fkcn'raracth'cthr'loa.

The S'pht'Mnr attacked us. -- S'pht'Mnr r'aracthi l'on.
S'bhuth is entranced, -- S'bhuth s'erke'rct,
and we are powerless to fight back. -- r'ar l'on s'erke'tr'ktr scal'trac'ktrar
The outer villages have been slaughtered -- T'ctr'rh'racth s'erki'rctra
without their defenders. -- tr'ktah r'crk'loa.
The attackers have overrun and killed -- R'arac k'tactrih'ktrarhli
most of us who were in the compound. -- l'on'rarkn'tror s'erkih'rhl'ktn.

When once S'pht fought in brutal combat, -- L'o t'rhl S'pht k'trarhli rhl r'acn'ktra,
when hatred burned the tissues of one's enemy, -- l'o t'ra t'orkncthi r'trka'sct'tror,
one clan, the S'pht'Kr, reclusive and solitary, -- k'ter'rk, S'pht'Kr, t'ror s'erki'ktra,
abandoned Lh'owon. -- t'racti Lh'owon.

If
s show up in there, ignore them. It's just something in the message-board script.

And now, all of the new vocabulary (including what I posted last time):

K'rl - (prep.) to
C'rkth - (n.) milestone, accomplishment
C'rkthahrl - (v.) to accomplish
K'tra - (n.) star (reclusive, solitary, alone, lonely, lonesome as adj.)
L'ar - (n.) freedom
L'larhln - (n.) place
K'trar - (n.) fight, battle
L'oracn - (v.) to send
O'won - (n.) to send
P'thr - (prep.) on, on top, onto
Rac - (prep.) out, forward, forth, up, upwards
K'lr - (subj.) Until, up until
M'ncal - (v.) to build, create, make
Scal - (subj.) so that, in order to (join with following word)
Rkna - (adj.) Free
S'rhl - (n.) sister, moon
S'rknth - (n.) orbit, year
F'kcn - (n.) brother, planet
T'kal - (adj.) new
T'lar - (subj.) for, during, while (for 1,001 orbits...)
Tract - Also forgotten, also lost
T'ract - Also to forget, also to lose
V'ral - (prep.) from
K'tacn - (v.) to stop, to rest
R'arhl - (v.) to go, to leave

'We were to kill' will be represented by something else. Not thought up yet.
Prsent participle: use verb, add 'cthr.
Passive participle: Remove all apostraphes.

Numbers above 10 are constructed as such:
3456 would be stated like this: four 3s (don't use plural on any of these) and three 4s and two 5s and 6. So... 'lhanr'nrlhah'ctr'kn. (Drop the second 't' in cttr -> ctr.) Sort of confusing, but it works. Just use the number of places away from the decimal to describe the digit, use 'and' between each, and you're good to go.

I really haven't had to add much to the grammar yet. I'm sure that I'll get there eventually. Adverbs would probably be a good thing to do...

It's all yours VidBoi. Now if only I could get my Powerbook to work... ;.;
