: I dont know, but Durandal (and every other character featured on a terminal)
: always had their own voice inside my head. Having someone read those
: terminals with their own take on the characters feels kind of weird. Not
: saying Gianni or Dan are doing a bad job or a bad impression, just that it
: takes a lot of time and effort to be able to read the terminals again
: without hearing someone else inside inside your head instead of the
: original voice you imagined for the characters.
: Is this why the Officer went rampant??
Canonically, they don't have voices. It's literal text on a screen.
AAANYWAY, instead of immediately jumping right into apotheosis X I, for some reason, finally tried again to get past Gorrister's insane puzzles in IHNMAIMS (and surprisingly, not just succeeded, but finished the rest of the game in a day. The symbolism and overarching theme of humanity in this game needs a story page of its own and there isn't any deep analysis on the internet). I usually say "nay" to voice acting in games, but the voicework in that game is top notch. And this came out after marathon, but before duke nukem? Duke is praised for achieving 2-dimensional characterisation when most game heroes barely had one, but the not just one, but six main characters in this game (including AM) all feel three dimensional. Then I took a peek at the short story that came with it and... well, I don't doubt the author wrote it in one drunken night at a motel. This game's a product of having 30 years to think it over.
