In Response To: S'pht perspective on sentience *LINK* (ReadingOnMars)

: According to one of the terminals in hard stuff rules, the s'pht believe that
: sentience only occurs as a result of cyber-organic symbiosis, up until
: they discover that humans are fully organic and still sentient.

: By that logic, would the player character be considered by the s'pht (prior
: to that discovery) to be sentient as a result of their cybernetics?

: Additionally, considering that the compilers can and have gone rampant, does
: that mean that, save for AI, anything that is sentient in their eyes can
: go rampant?

I think you are confusing some stuff.

The terminal you are referring to is this one.
https://marathon.bungie.org/story/volunteers.html#M2.11.2.1

Here the original S'pht (1000 years before the events in Marathon) discover that the Pfhor are sentient without being bonded to any machines (unlike themselves).

For a 1000 years the S'pht are enslaved by the Pfhor.

What the enslaved S'pht think of humans is never stated. There is only one terminal where a S'pht communicates to us directly.

It basically tells us to find the lost 11th clan so that they can be whole again.
