Like several of the numbers in the player physics, the engine doesn’t use that stat at all, AFAIK. The player normally starts off with 150 shields, or 37 in a rebellion level. I’m not even sure if the engine uses the Marine’s height stat in the monster physics – there’s a separate height stat in the “walking” and “running” physics that it may use instead. (Same with the radius, but even then, only some aspects of the radius can even be customised – others are hardcoded, as I discovered to my disappointment when I tried to shrink the player.)
