Nice analysis. Thanks.
: Pfhor: • Tfear: male (probably first mentioned by Durandal, but I don't
: really remember for sure)
Yes, Durandal on Bob's Big Date. It's the first time we see Tfear and realise that he is humanoid with 3 eyes.
: • Hindmost Creche (which is probably a metonymy, since a creche is a
: nursery): female, mentioned by Tfear in "Slimy Things". Notably,
: he capitalises the pronoun "Her" in a way that suggests She is a
: figure of some religious reverence. My headcanon is that "Hindmost
: Creche" is a metonymy for the Great Mother, although this is not
: officially confirmed anywhere. (Interestingly, Tfear also uses the phrase
: "dried creche" in the aforementioned "Aie Mak Sicur"
: terminal.)
Hindmost is most likely coming from the works of Larry Niven. Greg K has gone on record stating that Larry Niven's Ringworld, Man-Kzin wars, etc was an influence on Marathon. Hindmost is "the one who leads from behind" in Larry Niven's work. So very similar. Creche is as you say a nursery. A "dried creche" is most likely a dead creche.
Cheers
