: Sure. I mean, mostly just wanted to know what people like to use, not what
: they think works better. I've played FPSs for a quarter century, using
: keyboard, mouse, controller, joystick, trackball, whatever; so I've
: already collated data on what works best for what. AFAIK, Marathon was not
: originally a mouse game, like all the FPSs of the era, so I didn't play it
: with one, and even to this day Aleph One's mouse support leaves something
: to be desired over some other sourceports of old games.
: Also, mousewheel for a Mac game? What kind of heathen are you? Just
: kidding....
I think it did support mouse back in the day but a lot of users back then (such as Doom vets) were used to keyboard only. Tuncer certainly played it the latter way when he wrote the Marathon guide. I do know for a fact it didn't support crosshairs however, so aiming up and down was harder even with the mouse.
Regarding the joke about the mousewheel, I actually play on Windows. >:)
I do however have the Mac versions too on my hand-me-down Macbook. I got Marathon for windows back in 2012, years before I got that Mac you see.
