Interesting. It's probably based on Indiana Jones slightly, what with the 30's setting. The "choose your own adventure" story system sounds like Super Amazing Wagon Adventure or the Oregon Trail.
While we're on the topic of games with PID like elements in places, there's also what appears to be Pathways into Darkness meets the Binding of Isaac called Nightmare Reaper:
I'd mentioned it once before (twice if you count the Rampancy.net Black Mesa stream) but it's too good to leave out. Granted, it's more linear, there's no time limit and the closest you get to Crystals are the magic weapons, but it does feel like a minor evolution of PID somewhat in terms of level design and RPG elements.
