GZ Doom's Brutal Doom starter pack is a good example of what Marathon 1 Redux can strive for in map design, new engine features and other such things.
That mod seems to be a recreation of Doom 1's Alpha as outlined in the Doom Bible to some extent, Marathon 1 Redux could be a similar thing as it may have branching story paths and the bomb that were missing from the original on top of the new stuff.
Could the Marathon 1R have the old physics engine for grenade jumping? M1A1's nerfed grenade jumping from Durandal and Infinity isn't as good and I'd like to see Classic "gun acrobatics" from M1 Classic in Infinity style maps, including existing mods like Eternal etc.
