In Response To: Shake Before Using: There is no bomb (Lion O Cyborg) : Shake Before Using in Marathon 1 is meant to be where we defuse a bomb the
: First off, when you fail BoB BQ (because the escort levels are unwinnable),
: Playing Shake Before Using is when you are meant to defuse it and Leela
: The deal breaker is the fact that the map you are supposed to defuse it on
: I don't think the end terminal of FIREx5 counts as a "large cylindrycal
: It's like Bungie put the writing in for that plot element, but forgot to
: FIREx5's name alongside Shake Before Using and the former's abundance of lava
: Long story short, Bungie set us up the bomb. I thought you were going to reveal some hidden lore, not tell us non-canon implications by game design oddness. "The bomb" seems to be a dropped plot; we're supposed to be there to disarm it, but it's kinda hard to tell what's going on 'cuz it's a mid-90s game. The egg in No Time Pfhor This is similar: what's that there for? Another dropped plot element that just barely rose above the cutting room floor, maybe. I think this stuff can be traced back to when it was going to have a more non-linear branching story (in the good way like PID, not the weird way like Infinity), and I bet the two "escort levels" (couldn't have picked a more appropriate name for that trash) were going to be the branching points... but time constraints (and the difficulty to get it right) says no.
