Bleaachh. The 3.0 tracks do indeed sound like crap.
I think I heard one or two on youtube once like Fatman, whose 3.0 electric trumpets sound more like something played for an actual fat man in some American 80's animation like the less-good Thundercats or even He-man, as opposed to the Futurama sounds of the original 2.5 one.
Most of the time the sounds in the 3.0 ones are either really flat, or sound like they were made by farting into a voice changer.
The choir parts like in Landing don't sound terrible but they do sound like bad examples of 16 bit synth and the other, flatter sounds are noticeable on top of that.
Good thing the Aleph One versions now have the 2.5 MIDI's as MP3 and ogg files and the CD copy made up for Quicktime 3.0's blunder by having beautiful remixes worthy of Rama, the graphic adventure game.
