Oh. I think I was thinking of the other charger. There is a way to get back to the start of the level from the end by falling all the way down to the bottom of the area around the multistage lift-- it leads to the inaccessible ledge above the Devlin nest area. From there I could've returned to the 1x charger in the shuttle, but I probably would have died getting back to the 2x charger since I don't seem able to make it through the laser puzzle without taking a hit. I think I've successfully "dodged" bolts one time. The rest seem to come from taking hits head on and being lucky enough to be knocked straight backwards along the ledge instead of off of it to the side.
