Perfection indeed. :)

Back in the day, Double Aught created Hastur's Workshop, a web page dedicated to explaining some of the finer details of Marathon map making. The two named characters on the page were Hastur and Grendel (namely, Greg Kirkpatrick and Randy Reddig).

One section dealt with Aesthetics. If you wanted to understand how Greg created some of the effects on the Acme Station this was a must read.

Fortunately, Hatur's Workshop has been lovingly preserved by Gary Simmons (aka The Battle Cat). You can see it here.

The section on Acme Station can be seen here

Read and enjoy.

Cheers
Hamish
