M2 *is* easier than M1, but could always bump up the difficulty... =) TC is certainly harder than Normal or Major Damage.

Of course, whether you like M1 or M2 better is a matter of taste. M2 is my favorite---it was the game that really introduced me to the series, and I was blown away by the beautiful graphics. If you were familiar with the other games that were out at the time, M2 was set apart.

And using your weapons is fun. Fists can get boring at times, although admittedly I'm not that good at using them. Most players don't like difficulty if it gets frustrating---they like difficulty if it makes their experience more fun. And fun generally means variety and action.
