In Response To: Tour of Duty - Fire! Fire! Fire! Fire! Fire! (PerseusSpartacus)

: If you look closely, you'll find the entry to this corridor hidden in the shadows of the first room of this section of the level.

The lava dilemma, and this return corridor, is my favorite environmental puzzle of the game. After you discover this corridor, you realize that the AR was placed as a clue to look for grenade-climbing spots. You didn't have to jump in the lava at all: you just had to read the level designer's mind. Yep, it's a Jason level all right. ;)

: Ty93.2 !dead.

: She's clearly saying something to the effect of 'Tycho is dead'. But why would she say such a thing? Tycho is alive and mentally unwell, and we know it.

But why do we know it? The Blaspheme Quarantine secret was so well hidden that it took a map editor to find it. Without the Story page to highlight such things, a player would have little cause to doubt his death.

...Unless you're a programmer, that is. If you know the C programming language, like Jason, you'd associate that exclamation point with unary negation, and read it as "Tycho is NOT dead". It's a niche reference, but so is all the Latin, and it's not the last programmer in-joke we'll see. I'd just learned C at the time, and I read that part as Leela figuring out that Tycho is still around, which also makes sense story-wise.

: Now we've finished ordinary gameplay, it's time to move onto secrets, right? Wrong: there are no secrets on this level.

Just beating the level normally requires two leaps of faith as challenging as any secret. If that's not enough, you forgot to mention the ammo stash in the final room, in lava across from the final pillar. The only way out is to grenade-hop back up, so you'll have to be quick to keep it.
