Actually, it seems like it would be utterly foolish to do such a thing. At least if Battle Group Seven had appeared suddenly and unexpectedly, Durandal might not have been able to respond quickly enough. Sure he would expect some backup eventually, but not Battle Group Seven. By taking so long, Tfear ends up allowing Durandal to get himself ready, thereby exposing Battle Group Seven to needless casualties.

Of course, in the end, it doesn't really matter. For some inexplicable reason, even though Durandal is capable of wiping out a whole other Battle Group in two minutes, Tfear manages to knock down Durandal's ship and then rampage through the remains:
