Safe areas would probably help against the fight of an infinite army of enemies. Making enough safe areas could work, or the respawning enemies could be kept to a limit to the point where no more enemies will respawn.
I'm glad someone else has replied to this thread, because it's kind of interesting to see what will become of it. There have not been many scenarios that could scare me (even though this is a single chapter). Funny thing about the invisible devlin: there was a solo map for Evil that had invisible devlin. Now THAT scared me, because not only was it dark, but I also had limited ammo. These things were black holes for ammo!
