Not to mention the half-billion other such references scattered throughout the Halo series, from the name of Cortana, to the appearance of the infamous phrase "They're Everywhere!", etc. And that's ignoring the fact that Halo's story itself has a bazillion similarities to the Marathon story (Jjaro and Forerunner, Security Officer and Master Chief, Rampant AIs, etc.)

Basically, if you like both Marathon and games like CoD or Battlefield, you will love Halo.
