The version of Aleph One won't affect gameplay as much as the data files, which are what got updated for Marathon. Marathon 2 and Infinity are pretty much the same if you get them off the CD, just with hi-res textures and HUD. So, only one huge download.
If the size is really a problem, you might be able to get somebody to remove the hi-res texture plugins and send you just the map / shapes / music. That would cut it down to 30 MB or so.
