Hey welcome back. Yes the PID intro was removed from the current iteration of M1A1. I believe the general view was that it was confusing to new players and was as you say "non-canon". You can blame (or thank) myself and Bruce Morrison (aka Hippieman) for this. We went through M1A1 with a fine tooth comb bringing it back to as close as possible to the original game. Any coding changes were done by Gregory Smith (aka treellama) and Jeremiah Morris (Hopper). You can switch off the "fullscreen" option in the preferences. Indeed, you can switch off most of the eye candy and get the original M1A1 interface look and feel if you want. Cheers
