In Response To: Re: Durandal's Motives (chiasaur11) : Figured Durandal planned to jump out from the start. Also figure he's jumping
: He doesn't want to be a survivor. He wants to be God. Full Let There Be
: If you remember your Sunday school, there's a relevant bit in Exodus.
: Someone else jumping? They aren't going to assume the knee's meant to go in
: Of course, like the cynical child says, them that asks don't get. Prize went
I actually never will go to Sunday school. Oh, and in case you didn't know, I'm a pre-teenage kid. :) I can see your point. However, remember the last sentence "Escape would make us god." He didn't say "Escape would make me god." There's two interpretations of this that jump into my mind: One, that someone else would be with him when he jumped. Who? I think the "us" refers to Durandal and the Player. This would fit perfectly with the story. After all, Durandal does seem to have a soft spot for us, as some people have noted before. Two, that the "us" is sort of like the royal "we". After all, Durandal has been merged with Thoth, so it sort of makes sense to think of the Durandal-Thoth entity as an "us". However, I prefer #1. Also, I don't think that the prize went to another person. I think Durandal just realized the futility of the enterprise. After all, didn't Tycho say that he had "proven that escape is impossible"? Unless of course Tycho was lying, just like he did with Leela. ;) Vale,
