On the Seven Pillars...

: Now... I'd like to see you try and explain Jason's Colony Ship For Sale,
: Cheap. ;)

You asked for it, Hamish. ;)

Has anyone thought about where the Security Personnel are trained? The army and such have their 'boot camps', but individual Security Officers might be trained in rooms with special "obstacle courses" or perhaps even objectives, at least in the future. If you've ever played the original Half-Life or one of it's 'expansions' or whatever, you'll recall being trained in a similar kind of facility ("Sector A Training Facility", for those of you who like to be specific).

Some of the training facilities would be simple like the one in Half-Life, or they might be more complicated, perhaps involving various puzzles. Now, what if the area we explore on Colony Ship For Sale, Cheap was one of the more complicated facilities, perhaps the most complicated one of all?

That explains the presence of the infamous Seven Pillars: they are an obstacle, designed to test a Security Officer's wits (and at that, they sure succeed, and quite painfully so, too).

Now, you're probably thinking "Where are all the Security Personnel then? I don't see any in M1." If you've ever played Pathways Into Darkness, you'll know that just because you can't see them, that doesn't mean they're not there. ;)

First off, the very first of the Lost Network Packets mentions Security Personnel ("I had no idea just how soft all of our security personnel have become.").

Also, why in their right minds would the members of the U.E.S.C. put the Marathon in the hands of a single Security Officer? That would be extremely stupid of them. Thus, we can safely say that there were other Security Personnel, not just us.

That settled, the final question is, why did Durandal bring us here? Same as Blaspheme Quarantine: to test us, and, in this case, to philosophize with us. ;)

Still Rampant,
PerseusSpartacus
