: Being only as old as Marathon, and a pitiful excuse for a Cyborg, I must
: confess before beginning my post that I have not completed any of pre-Halo
: Bungie titles. However, I have spent a great deal of time reading the
: Story Page, and pondering what I read.

: Today, during the time I've spent reading through the page, I stumbled upon
: "Where Giants Have Fallen" and this lead Via google to
: Jjaro.net.

: I got lost within that directory for a time, then stumbled upon what appeared
: to be entries about something called the Salinger project.

: This (as well as Where Giants Have Fallen, and other items on the Jjaro.net
: pages) has eluded my notice, and I cannot find anything on the story page
: related to this.

Where Giants Have Fallen is not Bungie canon. It sprang from a warped mind meld between two shady characters who disappeared from our galaxy years ago. Treat it as a little piece of fun. It was written after Marathon 2 and before Infinity and represented a natural course of action Durandal might have taken. As he says himself in M2, he didn't want too many rampant AIs running around the galaxy. It also tries to tie PID into Marathon more. "Only you can survive the fall". :)

I'm not aware of the Salinger Project. Nor that it links directly to Where Giants Have Fallen. It looks nice though. Interesting how it uses Alice in Wonderland imagery. Thanks for posting the link.

Cheers
Hamish
