Great to get a definitive answer to this. Thanks for making the query and to Ron for replying. Good bless his memory. :)

This helps to explain this post which I could never understand until now. I guess the guy tried to rest, a monster spawned, he killed it, another Alien Gemstone appeared but he never made the connection. Either that or the final level is really screwed up in v1.1.
