Hmm, these guys are a mystery. There are no placements for them in the map; their appearance must be triggered in the code. There are a few unused bytes which might contain a flag, but it's also possible that level 9 is just hardcoded as "the rat-thing level". I'll special-case them into the "Random Monsters" section.

: Flying Reptiles on Watch Your Step

I've been trying to follow the Earthtopus Chronicles, but I'm a little confused: do these guys appear at certain locations, or just randomly? If they're triggered by a spot, it should be green on the sector map. I'll post a list of the WYS sector types shortly, to see if you experts can spot any patterns. Thanks for your help!
