However, : underneath the surface were secret messages encoded in his songs - even : the song titles provided clues. : Unfortunately, few ever saw the site. : "We really screwed up on that one," said an anonymous Bungie : source. "The first big problem was it was 1995 and hardly anyone had : an internet connection," he explained. : Furthermore, an employee who would go on to mislabel Marathon Infinity disks : failed to mail out press announcements for the ARG. : "He used the wrong stamps, now stop following me," confided our : unnamed source. : Inexplicably, the Marathon Music website has re-appeared at : http://www.marathonmusic.net/ : Does this presage Bungie's return to the Marathon universe? : Bungie had no comment for this story.
