AIFF and WAV are basically PCM (Pulse Coded Modulation) with a brief header. Basically, it's raw audio. Multiple CD quality audio tracks of the same length should be the same size. The bit rate of compressed audio indicates how much information is required to encode it. For lossy compression this is usually a good indication of the quality; more is better. For lossless, it's purely an indication of how efficient the compression was. In this case, it means the 2.0 audio contained more information and couldn't be compressed as well.
