This might sound weird, but I actually like the other versions a little better. That's what I played Marathon to originally, so I'm attached to them. I have memories with it. I first played it in Winter '07 I think, so I was way past QT 2.0, and I had no idea it was supposed to sound different. I guess it's an acquired taste; I thought Landing sounded like crap myself at first, but I slowly got used to it as the game progressed.
It's one particular instrument for the most part; it's the first one you hear in Swirls, and I really liked it in Leela and Guardians. I think of it as "that dingly Marathon instrument". I just really liked it for some reason.
