In ancient Maya mythology, Xibalba, roughly translated as "place of fear", is the name of the Mayan underworld, ruled by the Maya Death Gods (One Death and Seven Death) and Demons (such as Flying Scab and Pus Demon). Xibalba is located at the lowest of five levels beneath the earth's surface. Though the exact location of the entrance to the underworld is unknown. In 1978, two academic researchers in the US wrote a paper entitled 'Pathways Into Darkness: The Search For The Road To Xibalba'. Just another of those same name things. Cheers
