splinter group of compilers

Dear God:

This "splinter group of compilers" has peaked? pricked? peeked? poked? my interest. You made me read many terms last night and I got nuttin.

Were all S'pht at Tau Ceti controlled by that one Pfhor cyborg?

"This mutant Pfhor is able to direct the actions of thousands of S'pht simultaneously."

Well sounds like it. But if he couldn't keep Durandal and the S'pht trading secrets, then I presume it might be possible for a "splinter group of compilers" to be up to no good.

But why make the "splinter" designation??? I dunno.
