: Hi all, or at least the few of you that still visit. Happy holiday!

: It's been a long time since I posted anything, but this level is driving me
: crazy. I'm playing the final version of Eternal for about the fifth time
: through, and I just can't get through the opening sequence on TC. Not
: since Schmackle in Evil have I had such difficulty completing a level, or
: in this case, starting a level, on TC. On lower difficulty levels I can do
: it, but it's still hard. Adding the part where the player starts outside
: certainly livens things up!

: Is there a trick to survival that I'm missing, other than speed? I currently
: run up to where I can leap onto the wall separating the two halves of the
: outside area, but if I survive that long, I usually have little in the way
: of shields left, even arriving with 3X shields. There seems to be a delay
: on the door opening, so even if I make it this far, I usually get pummeled
: before I can get inside. Oh, there's a sticky pixel, just to the side of
: the door - landing on it spells certain doom.

: Forrest, you are absolutely evil.

My survival tactic is different, I don't run for the stairs, wall & door. Instead I run and hide behind a column right in the corner of the starting area and let the fusion bobs attract the attention of the juggernauts. There is a short battle and then everything starts looking for me, but from behind the column I can usually fight things off, using the column as cover. Eventually there isn't much left on that side of the wall and I can emerge and tackle the rest of the level.

Another advantage of doing it that way is the number of dead fusion bobs lying about, due to the fact that they teleport in at a slow but steady rate. This means that if I survive that first bit I end up with tons of ammo for the fusion pistol to pick off the remaining juggernauts, hunters etc.

It took quite a few attempts to do it but it worked for me.

I think it's the toughest start to a level I have ever seen, yet it can be done so it's a challenge rather than a waste of time. That said I don't enjoy that part of Eternal when I go through again, it's just a bit repetitious being killed over and over and over...

Anyway Merry Christmas and I hope you find that useful.
