Reason for the M1A1 opening?
Posted By: DoomguyDate: 5/17/09 9:39 p.m.

In the original version of Marathon 1, the game starts out inside the "marathon". However in the M1A1 version, the game starts out in a PiD room which you come across some red creature and then have to travel through rooms to get to the inside of the "marathon". What is the point?

It does not make since to be in the PiD pyramid which is on Earth while the "marathon" is in space. How can they connect? Also the PiD pyramid was destroyed before the events of Marathon took place.

So why was this stuff put into the beginning of M1A1? Why not start the player out in the "marathon" like in the mac version of marathon? Was it because marathon is a squeal to PiD? It confuses some players who have never heard of PiD, when they start M1A1.

To me there does not seem to be a reason for this.

The only logical reason i can think of for the PiD scenes is that the character is only dreaming he is in the PiD pyramid, but why is that?

Thoughts?

Do you think the PiD rooms should be taken out of future M1A1 releases?
