Security officer as "eternal hero?"

I've heard this idea before and I personally believe it firmly but I'm wondering how widely it's thought to be the case. That your character is somehow a literal element of "destiny," that he's actually a reincarnation of Achilles and Gilgamesh and the PiD guy and, if you want to play the highly speculative game, that the Master Chief is a similar incarnation.
This would mean that he's got a sort of indestructible soul, incapable of losing a battle, which would explain why the AIs treat him as such a valuable asset. It would also bring to light the events of Infinity: you're in such an insurmountable situation that the universe must jump between timelines for you to eventually come out on top. It would *also* explain all the deja vu.
Idea approved? Disapproved? Unheard of?
