Once upon a time, there was a young interstellar colony ship named Marathon.
Marathon was all lonely out at Tau Ceti all by itself, so one day one of its crazy onboard AIs saw some friendly aliens buzzing by and called them over to play. Except it turned out that these aliens weren't so friendly after all, and they tried taking Marathon's poor innocent crew captive as slaves!
But thanks to the efforts of a dark and mysterious cyborg Security Officer on board, the mean old aliens got chased away, and Marathon and its baby colony on Tau Ceti were free to lick their wounds and relax for a couple of months, until the aliens came back, blew up the colony, and kidnapped poor little Marathon.
Meanwhile the aforementioned crazy AI ran off with Mr. Dark & Mysterious in the ship the mean old aliens had left behind. Together they paid a visit to the galactic core, where the crazy AI thought he could find some neato toys left behind by some other aliens a long time ago. Except the mean aliens followed them there, but that was ok cause Mr. Dark & Mysterious got tough again, and together him and the crazy AI chased away the bad guys again, only those meanies had to throw a temper tantrum and blow up the local star, cause they were spoiled sports and bad losers.
But that turned out to be real bad for everybody, and some kind of crazy monster got loose and destroyed the universe! So Mr. Dark & Mysterious had to go back in time and fix it, except he didn't, so the crazy monster got loose and destroyed the universe, so Mr. Dark & Mysterious had to go back in time and fix it, except he didn't, so the crazy monster got loose and destroyed the universe, so Mr. Dark & Mysterious had to go back in time and fix it, except he didn't, so the crazy monster got loose and destroyed the universe, so Mr. Dark & Mysterious had to go back in time and fix it and this time he did, and everybody lived happily ever after until the end of the universe.
