Gah. That is a bug, but it's a minor enough one that I think people won't be certain.

What was supposed to be there was those X's over another texture, but somehow the X textures got made opaque instead of transparent, and the way Aorta compressed the X textures, the normally-transparent part in between the X's got reduced to those giant pixels in the color map. I'll fix it in my local copy, but it's not worth another release just for that...
