The technique I use is to clear the place out with the gravblades, charge up my health, punch the wires and switch back to the gravblades, and then just run up the stairs swinging the gravblades, which will kill anything that gets in your way. If the lava overtakes me, I just aim toward the lowest stair that's still out of the lava and keep running. I usually make it to the terminal no problem.
Something occurs to me... I play with auto-run turned off, like in the good old days, so when I'm running I'm automatically holding down the swim key too, and if the lava overtakes me I'm automatically floating with it. If you guys are playing with auto-run on, you might not be doing that. Is that the case?
oh... and I suppose it's not lava, it's Ubiquitous Pfhor Slime®, but... close enough.
