You don't have to do anything different on the Tangent Universe, you have to do something different on the level that you get sent back to (Sakhmet Rising), so that you don't end up on the Tangent Universe again. Don't take the same exit on Sakhmet Rising; find another one. That will take you down a different path and you'll never see Tangent Universe again.
There are four more branches like this, one in each chapter, and each time, it's the level that you get sent back to that you have to do different, not the level that sends you back.
